ONE OF OUR OWN
Moving to the Joie Stadium in 2015 from Manchester United, Keating has since become a regular between the sticks for City despite her tender years.
She deputised admirably as a 17-year-old in the absence of senior stars Karen Bardsley, Ellie Roebuck and Karima Taieb in the 2021/22 campaign, making her senior debut against Leicester in the Continental Cup and preserving a clean sheet.
Growing up in Ardwick, the youngster played football in the park with her friends before her mother organised a team of children in the local community.
The budding starlet then joined a boys’ team before being scouted for United as a striker! When nerves got the better of her, she decided to try her luck in goal and unearthed a natural talent.
After moving to City, she began training with the first-team at 16 and made five appearances in the 2021/22 campaign: three in the FA Women’s Super League and two in the Continental Cup.
But her real breakthrough came in 2023/24, when Keating featured 29 times across the campaign en route to winning the WSL Golden Glove award.
City conceded just 15 times all season, and Keating’s exploits saw her earn a first senior England call-up in October 2023.
And the young goalkeeper was also part of the Lionesses squad that retained their European Championship crown in the summer of 2025, becoming the first England side to win a major tournament on foreign soil.
