City in the Community’s (CITC’s) amputees have won the FA People’s Disability Cup.

On Saturday, 11 June, City in the Community’s Amputee team secured their first-ever FA People’s Disability Cup thanks to a 1-0 win against Portsmouth at St George’s Park.

The FA People’s Disability Cup is a yearly event in which teams compete for the trophy live on national broadcaster, BT Sport.

Fresh from a third-place finish in the EAFF Champions League in May, our amputees, who were without three players away on international duty, contested a hard-fought match, eventually edging what had been a very close game.

Jason El-Kaleh, Community Outreach Officer said: “To be able to showcase amputee football on BT Sport is a great opportunity for our players and our disability programmes as a whole.

“Our disability programme is all about levelling the playing field in terms of access to sport and physical activity, and our amputee team is a great example of this.

“Our players are a testament to themselves and CITC as a whole, as they continue to inspire and prove that football is for everyone, regardless of their disability.”
