City Play is a bespoke Early Years programme that provides physical activity sessions for children aged between two and five years in over 65 nurseries and schools across Greater Manchester.
Each themed session is delivered in a fun, engaging and inclusive environment and are created to support a child’s physical development and progressive Fundamental movement skill development, through the delivery of a 38-week programme.
The programme aims to use the power of football and the Manchester City Football Club brand to encourage children in Manchester to live a healthy and active lifestyle from a young age.
CITC’s Premier League Primary Stars (PLPS) programme is delivered to five to 11-year-olds across Greater Manchester, with the aim of upskilling teachers around delivering PE and school sport.
Sitting under the charity’s ‘Healthy People’ pillar, CITC PLPS coaches work with pupils to help enhance their physical and social development.
The programme also delivers educational workshops on topics such as anti-bullying and anti-racism throughout the year.
Coaches work closely with teachers to ensure they feel comfortable to deliver a subject they may not do otherwise.
Coaches are able to adapt their approach, the content and physical activity sessions in order to best meet the requirements of the school/group that they are working with.
If you would like to support CITC and its work, you can this Christmas through Manchester City’s ‘The Greatest Season of All’ campaign.
For every purchase a fan makes for a range of selected Christmas retail clothing items, available online and in the City Store, the Club will donate £5 to its charity, City in the Community.
Fans can also make additional donations at the tills in the stadium store, when checking out during their purchase journey for match tickets and via the charity’s new monthly Prize Draw www.mancity.com/citcprizedraw.
