Find out everything you need to know ahead of City's Premier League clash with Brentford.

team news

Pep Guardiola has made two changes to his team for tonight’s clash with Brentford.

Nathan Ake and Tijjani Reijnders come in Abdukodir Khusanov and Nico Gonzalez for the 17:30 (UK) Etihad encounter.

Gonzalez drops to the bench while Khusanov and Rodri are not fully fit to face the Bees alongside long-term absentee Josko Gvardiol who has returned to training after a four-month spell on the sidelines.

Ruben Dias, meanwhile, is named as a sub and is involved in the squad for the first time since March’s home clash with Real Madrid.

Victory this evening would move us within two points of leaders Arsenal with just three games remaining of the 2025/26 Premier League season.

When and where

We host the Bees at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday 9 May with a 17:30 (UK) kick-off.

The game will be shown live in the UK on Sky Sports Premier League and Sky Sports Main Event.

Opposing manager - keith andrews

The Irishman began his playing career at Wolverhampton Wanderers before moving on to play for Hull City, Milton Keynes Dons, Oxford United, Stoke City and Walsall.

Following the end of his playing career, Andrews became assistant manager to MK Dons head coach Karl Robinson, departing the club at the end of the 2015/16 season.

He later worked as assistant to Stephen Kenny for both the Under-21 and Senior Republic of Ireland national team until Kenny’s departure in November 2023.

He joined the backroom staff at Sheffield United in December 2023 under Chris Wilder, before leaving at the end of the season when he was appointed set piece coach at Brentford.

Andrews was appointed as Brentford’s head coach in June 2025, replacing long-serving manager Thomas Frank.

Previous meeting

We secured a place in the Carabao Cup semi-final with a 2-0 victory over Brentford at the Etihad Stadium.

Rayan Cherki put us on our way with a wonderful opener shortly after the half-hour when he hit a vicious strike into the top corner.

And Savinho doubled our lead midway through the second half with a deflected effort after a lightning fast break from the Brazilian.

City, who featured seven players in our squad that have come through our Academy, are into the last-four for the first time since 2020/21 when we lifted the trophy for an eighth occasion.

Last time out

Jeremy Doku hit two strikes to help City rescue a point in a 3-3 draw with Everton.

The Belgian winger fired us ahead just before half-time with a left foot curler from the edge of the box.

But Everton hit back with three goals in 13 minutes in the second half with two from Thierno Barry either side of Jake O’Brien’s header.

Erling Haaland pulled a goal back immediately after going two goals behind and Doku grabbed a 97th minute equaliser, this time firing in with his right foot.
