PEP GUARDIOLA PREVIEW
The boss addressed the media on Tuesday afternoon ahead of City’s clash against Burnley. He was asked to provide an update on Erling Haaland and any other squad members who have not recently featured in City’s matchday squad.
“The most important news is almost all the squad are fit,” said Guardiola at his press conference.
“We don’t have injuries - Manu is back, training well he doesn’t feel his knee. John as well. That is the best news. The important part of season starts now. FA Cup, the Champions League is around the corner and of course the Premier League – it’s important that we have everyone available.”
Asked specifically about Haaland, the boss added: “Apparently he will be selected. [This is] the first time he is back.
“We have all the squad, we are stronger. Definitely.
“Erling is an important player for us. Two months out, but he feels good - we have a training session [today], but apparently tomorrow he will be with us.”
PREVIOUS MEETING
Our last home Premier League encounter with Burnley came back in October 2021, where goals from Bernardo Silva and Kevin De Bruyne gave us a deserved 2-0 victory.

We then faced the Clarets at home in the FA Cup quarter-finals in March 2023, coasting to a comfortable 6-0 victory.
In the reverse fixture this season, Erling Haaland scored a brilliant brace with Rodrigo also on target as we began the defence of our title in fine style with a hugely impressive 3-0 win at Turf Moor.
LAST TIME OUT
In our last league fixture, Oscar Bobb produced a cool, calm finish to ensure a thrilling last-gasp 3-2 win at Newcastle United.
We were in FA Cup action last Friday, beating Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 to progress through to the fifth round of the competition.
As for Vincent Kompany’s side, they were held to a 1-1 draw by Luton Town at Turf Moor in their last league encounter.
