GUARDIOLA PREVIEW
Pep Guardiola says he’s been impressed by his players’ focus ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup final against Manchester United.
The Blues secured an historic fourth successive Premier League title last weekend and now looking to create more history by securing a double league and FA Cup double – something that has never before been achieved by a men’s team in England.
Sharing the news only Ederson will miss the game with injury, the boss admitted he’s enjoyed what he’s seen on the training pitch this week.
“The fact we can do back to back Doubles - of course it’s important,” said Guardiola.
“The FA Cup itself is the FA Cup. Wembley, our fans going to London. The players know it’s the last game of season, the last effort.
“I’ve been impressed with how good we trained after few days off. The people are so focused.
“Everyone wants to be involved and we will do our best, that’s for sure. I have to decide a few things, the doubts, the lineup and then go.”
WHEN AND WHERE
Pep Guardiola’s side lock horns with Manchester United in the showpiece on Saturday 25 May, with kick-off at Wembley Stadium set for 15:00 (UK).
We enter the fixture looking to become the first men’s team to win back-to-back Doubles after we secured a historic fourth straight Premier League title on Sunday.
As ever, the Official Man City App will have all bases covered in Manchester and updates will be posted on X: @Man City.
Team news
City boss Pep Guardiola makes three changes for Saturday’s eagerly awaited 2024 FA Cup final against Manchester United at Wembley.
John Stones, Nathan Ake and Mateo Kovacic all come into the starting eleven from the side which secured a 3-1 win over West Ham last Sunday to secure a historic fourth straight men’s Premier League title.
Ruben Dias, Manuel Akanji and Jeremy Doku all move to the substitutes’ bench from the team that kicked off against Hammers.
With Ederson out for the season with a fractured eye socket, Stefan Ortega Moreno retains his position in goal.
In what is the first-ever all-English repeat of an FA Cup final, City will step out at Wembley seeking to emulate our triumph of 12 months ago when we beat United 2-1 en route to the Treble.
Teams
CITY XI: Ortega Moreno, Walker (C), Stones, Ake, Gvardiol, Rodrigo, Kovacic, De Bruyne, Bernardo, Foden, Haaland
Subs: Carson, Dias, Grealish, Doku, Alvarez, Akanji, Nunes, Bobb, Lewis
UNITED XI: Onana, Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Martinez, Dalot, Amrabat, Mainoo, McTominay, Fernandes (C), Rashford, Garnacho.
Subs: Bayindir, Lindelof, Evans, Mount, Hojlund, Eriksen, Diallo, Casemiro, Antony.

PREVIOUS MEETING
Last time we met our cross-city rivals, two stunning strikes from Phil Foden helped us come from a goal down to win 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium.
Marcus Rashford broke the deadlock with a venomous strike, but the Premier League Player of the Year equalised just after half-time with a thunderous effort into the top corner.
Foden then handed City the lead with 10 minutes remaining before Erling Haaland wrapped the the victory with a clinical finish soon after.
LAST TIME OUT
City secured a record fourth straight Premier League title in our previous assignment by beating West Ham 3-1 at the Etihad.
Foden opened the scoring after just 79 seconds before ehe doubled our advantage when sweeping home Jeremy Doku’s pinpoint cross.
Mohammed Kudus pulled a goal back for the visitors with a stunning overhead kick just before half-time before Rodrigo’s elegant finish restored our two-goal lead.
It secured the 10th top-flight title in our history and sixth in seven seasons and Pep Guardiola’s side wrapped up the Premier League by remaining unbeaten at the Etihad throughout the campaign.
