PEP GUARDIOLA PREVIEW
“The emotion is there and has to be high, just this won’t beat a team like Madrid.
“We have to adjust something, do it a little better to create chances for our strikers and people up front to get more balls, transitions, the quality they have in all departments.
“We play in the semi-final of the Champions League, we expect the toughest opponents.
“This is the challenge, we embrace it and go for it.”
PREVIOUS MEETING
We faced Real Madrid in the first leg clash at the Bernabeu, the game finishing 1-1.
That has left this match finely poised with a winner-takes-all scenario at the Etihad.
Vinicius Junior opened the scoring with a first half bullet drive that gave Ederson no chance before Kevin De Bruyne produced a wonderful strike from distance to level matters.
De Bruyne collected the Player of the Match award from UEFA and their Player of the Week award, too.
LAST TIME OUT
City defeated Everton 3-0 at Goodison Park this past weekend – as Ilkay Gundogan put in a masterclass performance.
Captain Gundogan scored two and set up the other, a fine header from Erling Haaland, to ensure three points from the tricky away fixture.
That put us four points ahead of Arsenal, who later on Sunday lost 3-0 at home to Brighton.
