PREVIOUS MEETING
In our last league trip to St James’ Park in August 2022, City staged a stirring second half fightback, scoring two goals inside four minutes to claim a dramatic 3-3 draw at Newcastle in what was a classic Premier League encounter.
The champions had raced into a fifth minute lead through Ilkay Gundogan only for the Magpies to go ahead before the break thanks to goals from Miguel Almiron and Callum Wilson.
A spectacular Kieran Trippier free-kick on 54 minutes further extended Newcastle’s advantage before quickfire strikes from Erling Haaland and Bernardo Silva either side of the hour brought us back level to share the points.
We did face The Magpies at St James’ Park in the Carabao Cup this season, where Eddie Howe’s side secured a narrow 1-0 victory.
LAST TIME OUT
In our last league fixture, we rounded out an unforgettable 2023 with a 2-0 victory over Sheffield United at the Etihad Stadium.
Last weekend, we secured a comfortable 5-0 FA Cup victory over Huddersfield Town to progress into the fourth round of the competition.
As for Eddie Howe’s men, they fell to a 4-2 defeat against Liverpool at Anfield in their last league encounter, but bounced back with a 3-0 victory over arch-rivals Sunderland in the FA Cup last Saturday.
