Guardiola arrived at City in 2016 and has established us as the best team in English football, winning the Premier League six times and a further eight honours across domestic cup competitions.
United boss ten Hag has completed two years in England, winning the Carabao Cup and FA Cup so far.
As well as dominating in terms of league positioning and trophies secured, City have also had the upper hand when it comes to direct meetings between the Clubs in the last two terms.
Of the six matches we have faced off since the summer of 2022, City have won four and United two.
Ahead of the 194th Manchester derby, we take a look back at those encounters.
City 6-3 Manchester United, October 2022
Hat-tricks for Erling Haaland and Phil Foden made this one of the most memorable Manchester derbies of recent years.
City were all over our visitors from the first minute and needed just eight minutes to get the opener through Foden.
United were somehow able to keep an irresistible City at bay from then until the 34th minute, but the second was no surprise when it came.
Haaland was the scorer, powerfully heading home a corner, and it was three before the Etihad had chance to catch its breath, with the Norwegian stretching to turn home Kevin De Bruyne‘s cross.
That wasn’t the end of the first half scoring, with Foden smashing home his 50th City goal just before the break.
The pair each completed their three-goal hauls in the second half as a couple of moments of slack defending allowed our rivals to gain a modicum of respectability in the scoreline.
Manchester United 2-1 City, January 2023
City were the better team for much of this encounter and looked to finally have the rewards when Jack Grealish headed home in the 60th minute.
However, United drew level 12 minutes from time in controversial circumstances as Bruno Fernandes levelled from 15 yards.
The effort was initially disallowed with Marcus Rashford in an offside position, but referee Stuart Attwell overruled the initial ruling, after VAR adjudged that Rashford was not interfering with play.
And City’s frustration was then compounded four minutes later when Rashford fired home the winner from close range to earn the hosts all three points.
City 2-1 Manchester United, June 2023
With the Premier League already sewn up and a Champions League final a week after this date at Wembley, City were dreaming of an historic Treble.
Just the small matter of the first ever FA Cup final Manchester derby to navigate before heading off to Istanbul.
If there were nerves in the stands and on the pitch, they were quickly swept away by Ilkay Gundogan‘s majestic volley less than 13 seconds after kick-off.
United were handed a lifeline when Grealish was adjudged to have handled the ball in the area. Bruno Fernandes scored the penalty that levelled the score before half-time.
However, it was to City’s No.8 who had the final say, with another excellent volley in the second half that found its way through a crowd of bodies and into the bottom corner.
Manchester United 0-3 City, October 2023
City’s best display in the first half of the 2023/24 season came at Old Trafford, as we dismantled our opponents.
Erling Haaland set the Blues on the way with a first-half penalty that was scant reward for the dominance showed.
The Norwegian headed home his second just after half-time before setting up Phil Foden for a late third.
It was no more than the Treble winners deserved after what was a stunning 90 minutes against our cross-city rivals.
City 3-1 Manchester United, March 2024
Marcus Rashford’s early stunner had United in the lead for almost 50 minutes of action here, but it was Phil Foden who shone the brightest in the end.
Having conceded in the eighth minute, we spent the remainder of the first half knocking on the door.
Eventually, it was up to Foden to bash it down with a thunderous strike into the top corner.
He followed that up with a delightful second in the 80th minute before Erling Haaland sealed the points with a clinical finish following excellent work by Rodrigo to make it 3-1 in added time.
City 1-2 Manchester United, May 2024
First-half goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo proved the difference on what was a frustrating afternoon in the capital.
City dominated the second half with Erling Haaland hitting the bar and Kyle Walker denied by a stunning save from Andre Onana.
Substitute Jeremy Doku, who made a superb impact, then deservedly struck six minutes from time to set up a grandstand finish.
But United held on to claim the prize and deny Pep Guardiola’s men what would have been an historic back-to-back Double.
