GARETH TAYLOR PREVIEW

The boss told the media in his pre-match press conference that Jess Park, Bunny Shaw and Jill Roord are all in his thinking ahead of Wednesday’s showdown.

Park missed out on the 2-0 WSL victory over West Ham at the weekend with a foot problem but the manager says she will come back into the squad this week.

2023/24’s PFA Women’s Players’ Player of the Year Shaw, meanwhile, was a second half substitute in the Joie Stadium victory as she battled back from a groin complaint but Taylor says she’s fine for the exciting clash with Pere Romeu’s side.

Roord, meanwhile, made her first start in nine months against the Hammers after overcoming an ACL injury.

She played the opening 45 minutes before being replaced by summer signing Vivianne Miedema and Taylor says she has a role to play on Wednesday but stopped short of revealing what that would be.

LAST TIME OUT

Lauren Hemp and Mary Fowler‘s first Barclays Women’s Super League goals of the season helped us to a 2-0 win over West Ham last time out.

The victory was our second straight league win at home and it extended our unbeaten run to five successive matches in all competitions.

PREVIOUS METTING

City last locked horns with Barcelona in March 2021 when we recorded a 2-1 victory at the Joie Stadium in the Women’s Champions League quarter-final second leg.

Janine Beckie opened the scoring inside the 20th minute before Asisat Oshoala equalised 15 minutes after half-time.

But Sam Mewis restored our advantage soon after from the penalty spot to help secure the memorable victory.

However, the win wasn’t enough to secure passage into the semi-finals following our 3-0 defeat in the first leg in Spain.

TV COVERAGE

Our clash with the Catalan giants will be broadcast live in the United Kingdom on TNT Sports 1, discovery+ and DAZN UK.
