Dutch delight...
Kerstin Casparij joined City in the summer of 2022.
The Dutch defender made the move to the Academy Stadium after two seasons plying her trade with Eredivisie outfit FC Twente.
Having represented her country at the Women’s Euros in England, she put pen to paper on a three-year deal.
Describing herself as a ‘modern, quick right wing-back’, she highlighted City’s possession-based style of play as perfect for her game, citing the Club’s lightning wingers as a major factor in her decision to aid her development.
A highly rated young talent who had spent the entirety of her career to date in her homeland of the Netherlands, the versatile defender started her career with Heerenveen and made her senior debut at the age of 15.
Earning herself a move to VV Alkmaar in 2017 where she spent a season with the club, she returned to Heerenveen and enjoyed another two campaigns with the club before putting pen to paper with FC Twente in 2020.
A regular for the Netherlands’ youth teams throughout her teenage years, Casparij earned her first senior cap in October 2021 as a late substitute against Cyprus and has gone on to become a regular for The Oranje.
She scored her first goal for City in the Club’s 2-0 UEFA Women’s Champions League win over St Polten in December 2024.
The following week, she agreed a two-year contract extension, committing her future to the Club until the summer of 2027.
