Pep Guardiola preview
“They are Champions of the Spanish league. Spain, in the last decade, have had more teams reach the final and win the Champions League. They are the champions. I admire their consistency.
“Twice they win La Liga when normally Barcelona and Real Madrid control it. They have been to two Champions League finals which means they know how to handle knock-out stages.
“All the teams are incredibly tough. You face Atletico Madrid or another team who is tough, too. It’s a football game, we give everything we have and after we will see who is best to go to the semi-final.
“It’s not about it being enjoyable, it’s about this team, who they are, what we can do to beat them. It’s not about ‘this is better than others’- it is what it is. The draw says we play Atletico Madrid.”
Match Programme
Our official matchday programme is the perfect way to get you in the mood for our Champions League quarter-final clash.
It’s packed full of exclusive interviews, in-depth features, Pep Guardiola’s notes, superb photography and all the stats and facts you could want to keep you entertained before kick-off.
As well as being available for purchase at the ground, supporters who may not be able to attend the game can still order the City matchday programme online for home delivery.
Fans can also order a programme subscription, which saves 25p per issue and includes free postage and packing in the UK.
Goals from Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan were enough to see City regain top spot in the Premier League with a 2-0 win over Burnley.
The Belgian smashed home the game’s opening goal inside five minutes, volleying home from Raheem Sterling’s cutback inside the area.
And Gundogan doubled our advantage when he once again latched onto a Sterling pass, becoming the Premier League’s highest scoring German in the process.
With Liverpool beating Watford in Saturday’s early kick-off, City knew that nothing but three points would see them reclaim pole position and Guardiola’s men were more than up to the challenge at Turf Moor.
Form Guide
City are unbeaten in our last seven matches in all competitions, winning five and drawing two games during that sequence.
We currently sit top of the Premier League table by a single point with eight games remaining of the campaign.
Diego Simeone’s are third in La Liga and come into Tuesday’s tie off the back of a 4-1 home win over Alaves.
Atletico are unbeaten in eight matches in all competitions, winning seven times in the process.
