WE’RE NOT REALLY HERE

City legends Shaun Goater, Andy Morrison and Shaun Wright-Phillips will offer their expert insight in our Cup final edition of We’re Not Really Here (#WNRH).

Goater and Morrison will be watching on from the WNRH studios with presenter, Cel Spellman, while Wright-Phillips will drink in the atmosphere down in the capital.

Our live matchday show will get underway one hour before kick-off, where our two special guests will offer their predictions and reaction to Pep Guardiola‘s team selection.

We will then reconvene for both a quick half-time debrief and further post-match analysis, where the boss and a player will also offer their thoughts following the final whistle.

Available for free across all of our digital platforms, We’re Not Really Here offers an unapologetically City-focused experience to matchday, and makes for both entertaining and informative viewing.

Viewer interaction is always welcomed so don’t forget to have your say by using the hashtag #WNRH on Twitter.

PEP Guardiola PREVIEW

“Tottenham’s commitment will be incredible and the quality of their players is extraordinary. It is a final and once you are there, every player wants to win it. And we are no exception.

“We deserve to be here. We had a tough competition, especially in the semi-final. We were there and every team wants to win finals.

“We will travel to London to play a good game and win the title.”

FORM GUIDE

City head into the Carabao Cup final hoping to match two of the competition’s long-standing records.

A win under the Wembley arch would represent our fourth consecutive triumph, equalling the longest winning run set by Liverpool between 1981 and 1984.

An eighth trophy would also see us move alongside the Merseyside outfit in terms of the most titles won in the competition’s history.

More recently, City have also been crowned champions an astonishing five times in the past seven seasons (2014, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2020).

Guardiola‘s side booked a place in Sunday’s final after defeating local rivals, Manchester United 2-0 at Old Trafford in the semi-final back in January.

Our latest outing also resulted in victory, as goals from Rodrigo and Phil Foden gave us a 2-1 win over Aston Villa in the Premier League.

Spurs also secured their final spot with a 2-0 victory, beating Championship side Brentford at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Interim Head Coach, Ryan Mason will be looking to build on his first game in charge, after Spurs ran out 2-1 winners over Southampton in the Premier League in midweek.

LAST MEETING

The last time the two sides met came in February this year, as City ran out comprehensive 3-0 winners at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League.

Rodrigo opened the scoring 25 minutes in from the penalty spot, before Ilkay Gundogan wrapped up the three points with an impressive second half brace, capping off a dominant display from Guardiola‘s team.

STATS

  • Guardiola‘s side head into the final having won the three previous Carabao Cup titles.
  • City’s appearance in Sunday’s game is our sixth final in the competition in seven years.
  • Victory for City would see us equal Liverpool’s record of four consecutive titles.
  • Guardiola‘s team have won 19 Carabao Cup ties on the bounce, with our last elimination coming in October 2016.
