Jill Roord was Manchester City’s first SUMMER signing of 2023, arriving on a three-year deal which keeps her at the Club until 2026.
The Dutch international joins Gareth Taylor’s side from VfL Wolfsburg where she made 69 appearances in all competitions and scored 31 goals in her two seasons in Germany.
Roord began her career rising rapidly through the ranks at FC Twente, making her senior debut aged 16, playing a key role in four Eredivisie league titles in her four seasons with the club.
She continued to develop her game with Bayern Munich in her first spell in the Frauen-Bundesliga and at 21-years-old was even deemed “one of the greatest talents in Europe” by her then-manager, Thomas Worle.
Roord continued her journey across Europe, moving to England in 2019 after signing for Arsenal.
In her two seasons under former manager Joe Montemurro, Roord was a key figure in the Gunners’ back-to-back top three finishes before joining Wolfsburg.
On the international stage, Roord was part of the Euros-winning team in 2017 – collecting her gold medal aged 20 - as Holland won the tournament on home soil, as well as reaching the final of the 2019 World Cup.
