MIDFIELD ENGINE
Experienced attacking midfielder Laura Coombs joined City in June 2019, having previously represented Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea (amongst others).
An ‘aggressive, box-to-box midfielder’, she had also competed in America’s W-League with the Los Angeles Strikers.
Upon moving to City, Coombs soon made a name for herself as a technically-gifted and selfless player with an eye for a spectacular goal.
She scored three sensational efforts in succession in the 2020/21 campaign and helped City to FA Cup glory at Wembley in November 2020.
Fast forward to December 2022 and Coombs once again wrote her name in the Club’s history books when her header earned a 1-1 draw with Manchester United in a match witnessed by a women’s record 44,259 supporters at the Etihad Stadium.
And a memorable campaign continued when she was recalled to the England squad for the first time since November 2020, going on to represent the Lionesses at the 2023 World Cup.
An intelligent, energetic midfielder, Coombs is one of the longest serving current players at City and is also well on her way to making 150 appearances for the Club.
