Decorated midfielder
German international Sydney Lohmann joined Manchester City from Bayern Munich in June 2025, becoming the Club’s third summer signing.
The midfielder arrived at the Joie Stadium on the back of winning four Bundesliga titles, including a league and cup double in her final season in Germany.
After rising through the ranks at Bayern Munich, she made her senior debut at just 17 in 2017 and was a regular within two seasons for the Bavarians.
A first league title would follow in 2020/21, with Lohmann finishing as the Bundesliga’s highest scoring midfielder at the end of the campaign to end a five-year wait for top spot.
A further three domestic titles would follow over the next four years, meaning Lohmann picked up six major honours in her final five seasons at Bayern.
She’s also built an impressive career on the international stage, becoming a regular for Germany in recent years.
Lohmann was a key figure in Germany’s march to the final, where they faced England.
She’s famously known for being the player that former City star Jill Scott ‘interacted’ with following a challenge in that final at Wembley.
In 2023, she travelled to Australia to compete in the FIFA Women’s World Cup, before helping Germany to a bronze medal at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
The midfielder was also part of the Germany squad to reach the Euro 2025 semi-finals, where they lost out to Spain in extra time.
Lohmann will wear the number 22 shirt in the 2025/26 season.
