Juanma Lillo, attending his second press conference while Pep Guardiola recovers from back surgery, was asked to provide a squad update for our final game before the international break.
“Right now, Phil is completely recovered from his illness,” our assistant coach revealed.
“Manu’s [Akanji] problem was more for prevention, it wasn’t anything serious. He’s more or less there. John [Stones] is more or less there as well.
“We’re fine, we’re okay.”
Lillo also revealed that new signing Matheus Nunes wasn’t involved in Friday’s training session ahead of our clash with Fulham.
However, the Portuguese international is eligible to face the Cottagers, should our assistant coach call on his services.
PREVIOUS MEETING
Goals from Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez saw City secure a precious 2-1 victory at Craven Cottage last time the sides met in April 2023.
The Norwegian fired us into the lead thanks to an early penalty which represented the 50th goal of his remarkable maiden season in sky blue.
Though Carlos Vinicius then levelled affairs with a fine effort, a quite brilliant 36th minute goal from Alvarez ultimately proved the difference in the capital.
LAST TIME OUT
Rodrigo was the hero last time out as he fired home a clinical late winner to help City see past Sheffield United, 2-1.
Erling Haaland, who had missed a first half penalty, positively put his frustration behind him to hammer home a header just past the hour mark to open the scoring.
But the Blades levelled matters through substitute Jayden Bogle with the clock ticking down to full-time.
Just as a share of the spoils looked likely, Rodrigo – the star in Istanbul to earn the Treble – was at it again, blasting home an unstoppable drive.
