PEP GUARDIOLA PREVIEW
The boss revealed in Friday’s press conference that Erling Haaland had trained with the team ahead of Liverpool’s visit to the Etihad Stadium.
Haaland was ruled out of Norway’s Euro 2024 qualifying clash with Scotland on Sunday after picking up a knock against Faroe Islands during the international break, but Guardiola is hopeful he’ll be fit for the weekend.
“He trained yesterday with some niggles.,” Guardiola told the media.
“Yeah. Today we are in the last training, hopefully he can play a part.”
The boss admitted that, with the likes of Ederson, Matheus Nunes and Nathan Ake also picking up knocks on international duty, he would have to make an assessment on his squad selection on Friday evening.
However, Guardiola pointed out that these sorts of dilemmas will be felt across the Premier League and are part and parcel of players returning to domestic action.
He said: “We have a few problems like many clubs. We will see in our training session today.
“We will see. At 6pm I will know for sure who is available.”
PREVIOUS MEETING
We last hosted Liverpool on 1 April earlier this year.
Though Mohamed Salah gave the visitors the lead, goals from Julian Alvarez, Kevin De Bruyne, Ilkay Gundogan and Jack Grealish gave City a comprehensive 4-1 victory.
The Blues are unbeaten in seven home Premier League fixtures against Liverpool, winning four and drawing three.

Last time out
Prior to the international break, City shared a thrilling 4-4 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
In a see-saw match, Erling Haaland put the Blues ahead from the penalty spot before Thiago Silva and Raheem Sterling hit back to give the hosts a 2-1 lead.
Manuel Akanji levelled just before the break, and Haaland restored City’s lead shortly after the start of the second period.
Nicolas Jackson again levelled for Chelsea before Rodrigo looked to have bagged a deflected winner on 86 minutes.
However, Cole Palmer equalised from the spot five minutes into added time to ensure the hosts had a share of the spoils.
