Team news

Gareth Taylor says there are no fresh injury concerns ahead of Sunday’s UEFA Women’s Champions League qualifier against Real Madrid.

It means that, bar Ellen White being unavailable for personal reasons and Ruby Mace continuing her recovery from a summer injury at the Under-19 Euros, Taylor has a strong squad at his disposal against Las Blancas.

Previous encounter

The two sides met in the second qualifying round of last year’s competition - the round the winner of this tie will reach.

The first leg was a 1-1 draw at the Estadio Alfredo Di Stefano, where Sunday’s match will be played. Caroline Weir scored City’s goal in the first leg. The Scottish international has since moved to Madrid and is expected to line up against City this weekend.

A 1-0 defeat at the Academy Stadium in the second leg ended City’s participation at that stage, while Real Madrid went to the group stages.
